Like all pigs, wild boars are big eaters. Among other things, they feast on grass, leaves, acorns, herbs, roots of all kinds of plants, mushrooms and fruits, as well as frogs, snakes and worms. This gives the meat a very distinctive gamey flavour!
The young animal is particularly interesting from a culinary point of view: their meat is tender and has an exceptional flavour.

The older the animal, the bolder the flavour of the meat. Young wild boar up to two years old do not need to be marinated, because of its strong flavour; older animals do. The haunches and chops are the finest and can be prepared just like pork.
