The story of ArreBeef

ArreBeef’s history dates back to 1921, when Jaime Borrell and his family opened a small butcher shop in the province of Buenos Aires. What began as a local family business grew over the generations into a leading producer and exporter of Argentine beef.

In 1996, the family acquired a beef processing facility in Pérez Millán, marking the beginning of ArreBeef as an export-oriented company. Today, with more than a century of experience in the beef industry, the family-owned business operates two production facilities in the province of Buenos Aires.

ArreBeef’s main facility in Pérez Millán is located in the heart of Argentina’s agricultural region. Here, the entire production process takes place, from cattle slaughtering and processing to deboning and final packaging.

Argentine Beef with a Focus on Animal Welfare

ArreBeef sources carefully selected cattle of British breeds, raised in Argentina’s natural farming environment. Animal welfare is a key priority throughout the production process.

ArreBeef follows the internationally recognised Five Freedoms of Animal Welfare, which include access to adequate food and water, good health, suitable living conditions, and protection from unnecessary fear and distress.

Traceability and food safety are also closely monitored at every stage of production. ArreBeef operates an integrated quality management system and holds several internationally recognised certifications covering food safety, quality and animal welfare.

Sustainable Production at ArreBeef

Sustainability is an integral part of ArreBeef’s operations. In 2017, the company launched ArreBeef Energía, a facility that converts organic by-products from beef production into renewable energy.

ArreBeef also prioritises sourcing cattle from suppliers in deforestation-free areas and uses packaging materials from responsibly managed, FSC-certified sources.

By combining more than a century of Argentine beef-producing tradition with modern processing techniques, a strong commitment to animal welfare and increasingly sustainable practices, ArreBeef continues to build on its heritage while looking towards the future.
